2008 Frazier Memento
Memento was founded with the 2000 vintage when a Master of Wine tasted a blend of our best barrels at a trade only tasting in St. Helena and remarked that it was the best wine in the room. This noted individual tasted the wine and asked what the name of this wine was. At that point it was only an assemblage of our best lots from the 2000 vintage and was never intended too make it into production so we had no answer. After a little bit oif persuasion and a lot of careful thought we decided to introduce a reserve program into our line of wines and name it Memento. While Memento has only been produced in vintages we feel represent the best of what we have to offer, the 2006 may be the finest example we have produced to date.
Memento is our flagship wine. Every year this wine is something special, unique to our portfolio. It represents the very best of our vineyard terroir and the 2008 is the best we have released. The wine is completely based on an extraordinarily low yielding block of Cabernet Clone 337. The impeccable growing conditions in 2008 have dialed this wine up a few notches, it is that good. While the wine was aged for 27 months in 100% new French oak, the ripe, low yielding fruit resulted in a wine of impeccable Cabernet Sauvignon character. This wine has got it going on. Phenomenal fruit, fine grained tannins, great balance. It could easily age for a decade plus in the cellar. For near term drinking we highly recommend a few hours in the decanter.

A big, bold Cabernet with soft tannins. Made from 100% free run juice from grapes grown on our estate. A wine of complexity, finesse and balance. Our flagship bottling.
2008 Frazier Cabernet Sauvignon
Our first Cabernet Sauvignon made by winemaker Kirk Venge. This wine is dark purple, almost opaque in color. The nose initially reveals light notes of cedar, menthol, earth and dry, dusty tannins. After the wine opens in the glass, the nose shows blue/black berry compote, plums and a hint of restrainted espresso. The palate initially shows a wall of tannin but two hours after opening there is nice concentration and a wonderful mouthfeel, though the fruit is still a bit in the background. At the three hour mark the wine becomes alive. Mouthfeel is incredibly smooth. No hint of oak but there is dark fruit on the nose and a wonderful entry on the palate which leads to a long, unctuous finish. This wine will certainly age 10-20 years.

Frazier Merlot

2008 Frazier Merlot
A vibrant nose of bright, red cherries leads way to notes of rich black fruit with hints of anise. This Merlot reveals rich complexity at a young age which will no doubt continue to improve with time in the cellar. As
the wine opens up there is more
spice present; sweet clove mingles
with hints of mocha & vanilla.
The wine is rich but
balanced with bright acidity and
fine tannins. As this is certainly more of a Cab lovers Merlot we recommend decanting for 1-2 hours before enjoying.

2008 Frazier Cabernet Franc
This is a wine full of richness and finesse. The wine begins with intoxicating, slightly sweet aromas of raspberries, blackberries, and a hint of vanilla. Ripe blue and black berries on the rich palate add to the deep fruit character, decadent texture, and the long finish of the wine. Decant this wine for several hours if drinking now or cellar for consumption 2012-2020.

2008 Frazier Petit Verdot
The 2008 Frazier Petit Verdot is our third release of this lesser known Bordeaux varietal. Typically used as a blending component we have had incredible success bottling this wine on its own. As big and bold as a Cabernet Sauvignon but with some spicier notes perfect for pairing with rich meats.
We blended in 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot to the Petit Verdot to balance the structure of the wine with the ripe, round, accessible fruit the Cabernet Sauvignon provides. This wine, much like the the 2004 and 2007 Petit Verdots, is one built for the cellar. The wine has a dark ruby core to it. At present the wine is a bit spicy with mouth coating tannins, dark fruit, roasted coffee bean, rich meat and deep red fruits. The finish is very long and may drink bigger than any other wine in your cellar.
For those unfamiliar with Petit Verdot, it is noted for its intensity of color, structure, and ability to age. Please note that this wine is a baby. Treat it as such and let it mature until sometime in 2012. This wine will age gracefully, much more so than most of us. It should drink well from mid 2011-2025.
