2006 Frazier Memento
Memento was founded with the 2000 vintage when a Master of Wine tasted a blend of our best barrels at a trade only tasting in St. Helena and remarked that it was the best wine in the room. This noted individual tasted the wine and asked what the name of this wine was. At that point it was only an assemblage of our best lots from the 2000 vintage and was never intended too make it into production so we had no answer. After a little bit oif persuasion and a lot of careful thought we decided to introduce a reserve program into our line of wines and name it Memento. While Memento has only been produced in vintages we feel represent the best of what we have to offer, the 2006 may be the finest example we have produced to date.

The bouquet of the 2006 Memento shows a touch of cassis, and ripe red and black fruits, and light toasty oak. On the palate, ripe, sweet tannins are evident. An extended amount of time ageing in the barrel has further concentrated this wine and added nuances of coffee and vanilla. This is a wine of layers and finesse with all elements in perfect harmony. This wine will be great as a stand alone but would pair wonderfully with hearty meats and pasta dishes.

Frazier Cabernet
A big, bold Cabernet with soft tannins. Made from 100% free run juice from grapes grown on our estate. A wine of complexity, finesse and balance. Our flagship bottling.

2006 Frazier Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley’s great growing season of 2006 provided exceptional fruit for us at Frazier. We had a mild spring, marked by wet weather. The cool weather prevailed until July delaying development in the vineyard. Luckily Napa experienced a heat spell mid-summer which lasted over a week. This heat spike helped to accelerate vineyard development and by August everything in the vineyard was normal. This pattern continued with nice even development of the grapes until harvest began in mid-October.

The well drained volcanic soils on our hillside vineyard provide nice supple tannins with depth, dimension and structure that will allow for enjoyment of this wine for years to come. While this wine is more approachable in its youth than previous vintages of Frazier we hope you manage to hold some for aging as the wine should hit its stride in 2011 and continue to develop for years to come.

The bouquet of this wine is marked by floral notes, blueberries, vanilla, and black currant. On the palate the wine showcases ripe tannins, black cherry, notes of Asian spice, an unctuous mouth feel, and a long finish. We feel this wine will pair well with grilled steak, osso buco, rib roast, or a hearty pasta ragu.

Frazier Merlot
A supple Merlot with structure and balance. Made from 100% free run juice from grapes grown on our estate. This is a Cab lovers Merlot!

2007 Frazier Merlot
From a textbook vintage comes a wonderfully enticing Merlot, very seductive in nature. The Merlot opens with a bouquet of black fruit. A touch of cassis gives way to a floral bouquet of violets. As the wine opens up there is a bit of spice present; sweet clove mingles with hints of mocha & vanilla. The wine is rich in nature but balanced with bright acidity and fine tannins. The palate unfolds with a ripe core of red fruit, earth, and red meat. Although this wine is approachable when young we recommend a bit of time in the decanter. This is a structured Merlot which begs for time in the cellar.

2007 Frazier Syrah

Our initial flirtation with Rhone varietals has resulted in our  first non-estate wine, a Syrah from Western Napa. We have always wanted to produce Syrah. It is  the basis for many of the wines we love and find great pleasure in and one which we find pairs incredibly well with most dishes in our repertoire. After years of back and forth it was time to find a small amount of great Syrah from our friends in the Valley and produce one of our own for the wine club. The 2007 Frazier Syrah is a  rich, full bodied wine from the slopes of Mt. Veeder. This Syrah is marked by a ripe nose of raspberries, blackberries, and a bit of freshly cracked black pepper, all very indicative of Mt. Veeder.  The nose gives way to a sweet, fleshy mid-palate of ripe black and red fruits and a long finish. We have found this wine drinks very well on its own and pairs well with a wide array of dishes. Most recently we paired it with duck sausage & fontina crostini, charcuterie, and earthy cheeses. We feel this wine is best consumed mid 2010- 2017.

2007 Frazier Cabernet Franc

From our estate vineyards comes our first Cabernet Franc. Typically, the small amount of Cabernet Franc we produce ends up being blended into our Memento or Cabernet Sauvignon. In 2007, after our Memento and Cabernet blends were put together, we had a small surplus of the Franc. We loved the idea of doing a varietal bottling and worked with Kirk & Eric to put the blend together. Immediately, we knew this wine would be a hit! The result is a 125 case bottling of our first Cabernet Franc. This is a wine full of richness and finesse. The wine begins with intoxicating, slightly sweet aromas of raspberries, blackberries, and a hint of vanilla. Ripe blue and black berries on the rich palate add to the deep fruit character, decadent texture, and the long finish of the wine. Decant this wine for several hours if drinking now or cellar for consumption 2012-2020.

2007 Frazier Petit Verdot

The 2007 Frazier Petit Verdot is our second foray into producing a wine from this blending varietal. Some of you may recall we produced a version of this wine from the 2004 vintage. This wine (while not an official club shipment) became one of our most sought after wines and we have been itching to produce another vintage of Petit Verdot ever since.

We blended in 9% Cabernet Sauvignon to the Petit Verdot to balance the structure of the wine with the ripe, round, accessible fruit the Cabernet Sauvignon provides. This wine, much like the the 2004 Petit Verdot, is one built for the cellar. The wine has a dark ruby core to it. At present the wine is a bit spicy with mouth coating tannins, dark fruit and red fruits. The finish is very long and may drink bigger than any other wine in your cellar.

For those unfamiliar with Petit Verdot, it is noted for its intensity of color, structure, and ability to age. Please note that this wine is a baby. Treat it as such and let it mature until sometime in 2011. This wine will age gracefully, much more so than most of us. It should drink well from mid 2011-2025.
